Questions of Life...

How many hours a day do you spend in front of a television screen? A computer screen? Behind an automobile windscreen? All three screens combined? What are you being screened from? How much of your life comes at you through a screen, vicariously?

Where shud i start?... i guess i'll answer the last question first. it is true that at least half of my life everyday, is associated with screen. u cannot avoid from computer screen if u work in IT world like me. then, whos fault? nobody... it is my choice at the very beginning. i love computer games since i was 10 yrs old... quite late, huh. then, i love to play pinball game, car race, prince of persia, pcman and drawing. fact: i reach office around 9am. i go back around 6pm. so total of 8 hours.

tv... hmm... it has been around me since i was born. my parents changed from black n white tv to colored tv when i was 7. then came tv3 in 1985 with all the cartoons and childrens segments. fact: we put 29" tv in our bedroom. average of 5hrs of watching astro. excluding EPL, Champions League, HBO and Star extended movie watching... oh, not forgetting, New Detectives series at around 2am.

I just trade in my green satria with brand new black myvi. i drive to work everyday. it took me at least half hour to reached menara tm. fact: 0.5hr on road.

How much of my life comes through a screen? 8 + 5 + 0.5 = 13.5, then divide 24 times 100 = 56.25%. It is more than half of my day!!! wahh, never realise that till today...

Television, the broadcasting of pictures, was developed in the 1920s by Vladimar Zworykin, Philo Fransworth, John Baird and Charles Jenkins, all working independently. In 1928 the first regular experimental broadcasts were made by WGY in New York, while the first regular broadcast service was begun by the BBC in 1936. Shortly afterwards, CBS started colour test transmissions.
